The earliest memory of her work in photography began when Samantha was 12 years old on a school trip to Washington D.C. and New York City where she was exposed to sights, culture, history, and art that would leave a lasting impression on her. Throughout that week she had her "fancy" digital camera, borrowed from mom and dad, with her at all times (it even had a little LCD screen!).
Over the following years Samantha continuously looked for ways to capture her perspective of the world and in her sophomore year of college enrolled in a black and white film elective class against the wishes of her advisor. It was the best class she took that entire year and it was there that she was able to grow her love for photography and learn technical skills in developing and printing that she would be able to apply to far more than just the images she captured. Here you will find a sampling of these images, a glimpse of how she sees her surroundings and attempts to capture the spirit and emotion of her environment.
